J & P Cycles Open House

June 24th 2006

We decided to make a weekend ride to the J&P open house in Anamosa Iowa.  About a three plus hour ride from Madison, we left Sun Prairie about 8:30 am. and just dodged some rain that was going through the Madison area.  Later we left J&P just as storms started to hit and raced back to Dubuque and the shelter of our Hotel.  I have never seen Jerry ride so fast!  We missed the rain, took a short, ahem, nap, then caught a shuttle to a Casino for dinner and some gambling.

After drying off the bikes Sunday morning, we packed up and headed out.  Took many back roads and just enjoyed the great weather and scenery for most of the day.

At Laurie's suggestion, we stopped at this church in Dickeyville where they have this Grotto.  All hand constructed with stones by a priest in the early part of the last century.  The detail is amazing.

After getting caught in a downpour just outside Waunakee, we found shelter under the cover of the local BP station.  The downpour lasted for over two hours and included some hail which caught us while still on the bikes.

What the hell was that!? (Jeff looks stunned) Check out the downspout.

Jerry is "all wet" (like that's never happened before)

Hey! My bike got all wet too..............

The trip ended with a bit of excitement, but we all agreed it was worth it for such a great weekend!
